Q: Is the Covenant of the Rose still hosting events? A: Because of the pandemic, all in person events are currently suspended, HOWEVER, we are still hosting online and virtual events via Second Lie (a computer program wit personalized avatars), and via Microsoft teams to better suit the community!
Q: I have a Second Life account, but how do I find the Coven in world? A: Follow this link to find the group in world! https://world.secondlife.com/group/3c29856d-3f2b-415b-0c9c-961e2c989c15
Q: I would like to dedicate to the Covenant of the Rose, but I do not live near any of it's circles. Can I still be taken on as a student? A: Absolutely! Once upon a time, gatekeepers in the community would tell you that unless you did everything in person and face to face, you couldn't be a witch or a student; and that just isn't true! The Covenant of the Rose believes that all persons should be able to study how they like and with whom they like, regardless of where they live. Moreover, in order to be inclusive to ALL persons, the Covenant of the Rose is open to students with no requirements to be physically present. We of course welcome everyone to come to our circles, but understand that it isn't always possible. We are totally willing to work with you!
Q: Do I need to be a Wiccan to join the Covenant of the Rose? A: Nope! We are actually not a Wiccan group, but are instead an eclectic group that sometimes utilizes Wiccan/ Pagan practices. Rest assured that that we welcome persons of all walks of life!
Q: I am a pagan and am seeking religious support, does the Covenant offer that? And Do I need to be a member? A: Yes! We offer pagan religious counsel, and no, you do not need to be a member! As religious leaders in the community, we have taken vows to empower and support those who need it.
Q: I am a minor but I really want to come to the virtual events. Since it isn't in person is that okay? A: Yes and no, it's a little complicated. So, technically, it is still a coven event, and while it isn't necessarily illegal for minors to attend as it is virtual, it is a moral grey area. Because of this, we are willing to consider high school students of all grades, but would prefer to get parental permission.
Q: Do members of the Covenant work robed? A: Typically no. We do have them, and if we do a public ritual we wear them, but it is more so new persons and guests can tell who is ritual staff and who is a guest. Otherwise we wear normal clothes, and if I am being frank, we shoot for comfort.
Q: What are the coven's feelings on the Black Lives Matter movement? A: We are fully and ferociously in support of the Black Lives Matter movement! While yes, all lives are important, all lives are not targeted for their skin colour, black lives are. If you or someone you know would like more information on the movement, we are more than happy to point you in the right direction!
Q: I want to join a coven, but I am a minor. What can I do? A: Unfortunately, most areas have laws regarding the inclusion of minors in religious or spiritual groups, (these include covens), and as a result, most adult groups require you to be 18. Now, in some areas like Seattle, minors over 16 may participate in the aforementioned activities with written parental consent. While many covens won't initiate you as a minor, they typically will help you study, find resources, and explore your path with them as a seeker until you turn 18. This varies from group to group though, so it's best to contact them directly.
Q: The Covenant of the Rose sounds like the right fit for me! How can I get started on my path with you? A: Send an email to [email protected]! That is the first step!
